Welcome to Astra Browser. This application is an ad-supported mobile web browser and media manager provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.

1. Information Storage and On-Device Processing

To ensure a responsive and secure browsing experience, Astra Browser processes and stores essential data locally on your device:

• Browsing History & Bookmarks: Your web browsing history, bookmarks, and favorite website shortcuts are saved exclusively in your device's local database. We never transmit or sync your browsing history to our servers.
• Incognito / Private Browsing: When using Incognito Mode, no browsing history, cookies, form data, or temporary web cache are retained on your device after you close the incognito tab or session.
• Smart Video Sniffing & Downloader: Astra Browser provides media detection that identifies downloadable video and audio streaming links on visited pages upon your request. Media sniffing is executed entirely on-device; we do not log, monitor, or store what videos or files you sniff or download.
• Clear Data Control: You have complete control to delete your browsing history, cached pages, cookies, saved form data, and search history at any time through the app settings or menu ("Clear Data").

2. Device Permissions and Usage

Astra Browser requests specific device permissions strictly to deliver its core browsing and media management functions:

INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

• To establish internet connections and load user-requested websites.
• To download media, documents, and files requested by the user.
• To determine active network type (Wi-Fi/Cellular) and display non-intrusive advertisements from third-party networks.

Media & Storage Permissions

• READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO / READ_MEDIA_AUDIO (Android 13+): Required to access, view, and organize downloaded media files directly within Astra Browser's download manager.
• READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below): Required to save downloaded files, pictures, and saved PDF pages to your device storage.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS

• To display real-time download progress, completion alerts, and background task statuses in the Android system notification shade.

RECORD_AUDIO (Optional)

• Used solely for the optional Voice Search feature when you tap the microphone button. Voice audio is passed directly to the system's speech recognition engine (e.g., Google Speech Services) and is never captured, listened to, or stored by Astra Browser.

3. Third-Party Services and Analytics

Astra Browser integrates trusted third-party SDKs to provide analytics, crash diagnostics, and advertising monetization. These third parties may collect anonymous technical data (such as advertising IDs, IP address, device model, and OS version) in accordance with their respective privacy policies:

• Google Play Services
• Google AdMob
• Google Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics

4. Log Data

In the rare event of an unexpected crash or software error, the app may collect anonymous diagnostic Log Data via third-party SDKs. This data may include device model, operating system version, app state at the moment of the crash, and anonymous performance metrics. It does NOT contain browsing URLs, page content, or personally identifiable information.

5. Cookies and Web Content

Cookies are small data files stored locally on your device by the websites you visit to maintain user sessions and preferences. Astra Browser utilizes the Android system WebView engine to handle cookies according to standard web protocols. You can clear cookies at any time via the "Clear Data" option in the browser menu.

6. Ad Blocking and Tracking Protection

Astra Browser includes a built-in AdBlock feature designed to block intrusive advertisements, pop-ups, and tracking scripts on visited web pages. Filter rules are executed locally on your device to enhance page loading speed and protect user privacy without transmitting your navigation data.

7. Search Engines

Astra Browser allows you to select your preferred default search engine (including Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Baidu, and Yandex). When you perform a search, your search query is sent directly to your selected search provider subject to that provider's privacy policy.

8. Security

We value your trust in using Astra Browser. We implement commercially acceptable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your locally stored data. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

9. Links to Third-Party Websites

As a web browser, our Service enables you to visit any external website on the World Wide Web. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or policies of third-party websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party website you visit.

10. Children’s Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take appropriate measures.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. Changes become effective immediately upon being published on this page.
